From 11 to 15 December, 2018, a delegation from Dongguan Municipality, Guangdong Province of China visited the Kingdom of Tonga. H.E. Wang Baodong, Chinese Ambassador to Tonga exchanged views with the delegation leader, Mr. Luo Weidong, Deputy Director of Dongguan Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, on Dongguan continuously enhancing pragmatic collaboration with Tonga, including development assistance cooperation.

During its stay in Tonga, the delegation held meetings respectively with Hon. Semisi Sika, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Tourism, H.E. Mahe Tupouniua, Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Tevita Puloka, Governor of Ha’apai Islands. Both sides agreed to work together to strengthen exchange and cooperation on development aid, infrastructure, agriculture, fishery, tourism and people-to-people exchange, so as to further contribute to China-Tonga friendship.
