On October 29, Counsellor Cao Yuan attended the donation ceremony of schoolbags and books hosted by the Tonga-China Friendship Association. More than 200 people attended the event, including senior officials from Tongan government departments, principals, teachers and students from primary and secondary schools, as well as parent representatives. Tonga Broadcasting Commission provided live coverage of the entire event.

Counsellor Cao Yuan stated in his remarks that education is an important cause concerning national development and the future of the nation, and also a highlight of China-Tonga friendship and cooperation. Love relays across mountains and seas, and warmth continues to light up dreams. China stands ready to work with Tonga to further deepen bilateral educational cooperation, nurture more envoys of friendship, and ensure that the cause of China-Tonga friendship passes from generation to generation.

At the event, guests jointly distributed schoolbags and books to representatives of Tongan primary and secondary school students. The children held panda-patterned schoolbags with beaming smiles.

The schoolbags and books were donated by the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Guangdong Publishing Group respectively.
