On May 15, Counsellor Ruan Dewen led young diplomats from the Chinese Embassy to the Tonga Campus of the University of the South Pacific (USP) for the Young Diplomats on Campus event. More than 30 participants attended the event, including Campus Director Dr. Havea, representatives of teachers and students, and embassy staff.

In his remarks, Counselor Ruan stated that China has been deepening exchanges and cooperation with Tonga across various fields under the principle of the “Four Fully Respects”. Young people are an important force in advancing bilateral relations. Young diplomats from the Embassy would like to strengthen exchanges with teachers and students at the campus, injecting vitality into China–Tonga friendship.

Campus Director Dr. Havea noted that the event was a vivid example of youth-to-youth exchanges between the two countries, providing a valuable platform for communication and mutual learning.

During the event, the Embassy presented televisions, laptops, and books on Chinese culture to the campus. Participants also watched a video of His Majesty King Tupou VI’s state visit to China last year. Young diplomats shared their personal growth experiences and provided information on scholarship programs for studying in China. Students welcomed the young diplomats with the traditional Tongan dance and actively engaged in warm interactions.
