Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with the 3rd joint delegation of the Tongan parliament and government led by Lord Vaea, Speaker of Tonga Parliament and Nobles Representative.

Lu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tonga, the two countries have upheld mutual respect and equality, setting a fine example of friendly cooperation between countries with different social systems and varying sizes. China appreciates Tonga’s consistent adherence to the one-China principle, and stands ready to work with Tonga to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and continuously elevate China-Tonga relations to new heights. The CPC is willing to strengthen communication and dialogue with all sectors of Tonga, deepen exchanges of experience on state governance, and steadily improve respective governance capacity.
Vaea and other delegation members noted, the practical cooperation between Tonga and China has yielded fruitful outcomes in recent years, delivering tangible benefits to the two peoples. Tonga will remain unwavering in its commitment to the one-China principle. It looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China across various fields to achieve common development. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has made remarkable development achievements. Tonga hopes to learn from China’s development experience.
