From August 13 to 16, Li Hui, Vice Mayor of Dongguan, Guangdong Province, led a delegation to Tonga.
Tongan Prime Minister Eke met with the delegation, accompanied by dignitaries including Minister for Internal Affairs, Minister for Tourism, and Governor of Ha’apai. Both sides reached consensus on strengthening cooperation at the local level. Following the meeting, they jointly attended the handover ceremony for materials donated by Dongguan to Tonga. The delegation also met with Tongan Minister for Education, Mr. Fasi, to explore future directions for educational cooperation.

During the visit, members of the Royal Family—including Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau‘u, HRH Sinaitakala, HRH Pilolevu, and HRH Angelika—received the delegation. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in people-to-people exchanges and women and children's affairs.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Dongguan and Ha’apai. It has further consolidated Dongguan-Ha’apai, even Tonga friendly ties and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Ambassador Liu Weimin attended some of the activities.
