On June 10, the Chinese Embassy in Tonga co-hosted a reception to celebrate the first International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. More than 150 guests attended, including HRH Crown Prince Tupouto’a‘Ulukalala and HRH Crown Princess Sinaitakala Tuku’aho, Hon. Prime Minister‘Aisake Eke and representatives from various sectors in Tonga. A video address by Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi was screened at the event.
H.E. Ambassador Liu Weimin highlighted China’s Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) and its "four common advocacies," reviewed the fruitful people-to-people cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic ties, emphasizing that exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations serve as a bond for world peace. He stated that China is willing to expand dialogue platforms with Tonga across multiple fields to jointly contribute to global cultural diversity.
Hon. Mo’ale Finau, Minister of Tourism, Lord Vaea, the chairman of the Committee on Tongan Traditions highly commended the significance of the GCI, wished to strengthen cooperation with China in culture and other sectors, promoting deeper dialogue among civilizations.
The reception was filled with a friendly and harmonious atmosphere, as guests jointly experienced the harmony and beauty brought by civilizational dialogue and cultural exchanges.
