On June 9th, Ambassador Liu Weimin met with Solomon Kantha, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission and Sub-Regional Coordinator for the Pacific. The two sides exchanged views on topics including climate change and resilience building, disaster management, and labor mobility.
Ambassador Liu expressed China’s willingness to engage in multilateral cooperation with the IOM. He emphasized leveraging the resources and strengths of both sides to provide more support to Pacific island countries, including Tonga. Mr. Kantha spoke highly of the positive role China plays in international cooperation and expressed IOM's willingness to enhance collaboration with China to jointly address challenges faced by Pacific Island Countries in areas such as development.
