On June 7, to celebrate World Oceans Day 2025, Ambassador Liu Weimin, together with diplomats and their family members from the Chinese Embassy in Tonga, participated in a mangrove planting activity along the coast near  Kolomotu‘a at the invitation of the local non-governmental organization Tonga Citizen Science Initiative, with the aim of improving the local coastal ecosystem and promoting sustainable development of the community.

The Embassy staff also engaged with local residents in exchanges on environmental protection, envisioning a greener and more sustainable future together. This joint activity demonstrated the commitment and actions of China and Tonga in addressing climate change and promoting regional ecological conservation and sustainable development.
