On 5th June, Ambassador Liu Weimin gave an interview to Tonga's mainstream media Radio 88.6FM and introduced the key outcomes of the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting. Ambassador Liu said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Pacific Island countries, the success of this meeting is of particular significance. All parties had an in-depth discussion on exchanges and cooperation between China and Pacific island countries, reaching broad consensus. He stressed that China stands ready to work with Tonga to actively implement the outcomes of the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting, consolidate solidarity and collaboration, so as to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership and build a community with a shared future between China and Tonga.

Ambassador Liu also addressed the China-Tonga relations, the Taiwan question, the U.S. tariffs, matters concerning Chinese community doing business in Tonga and China’s concessional loans to Tonga.
