On 28th April, the Tongan Parliament hosted an award ceremony for the Tree Planting Initiative. Counsellor Ruan Dewen, along with Members of Parliament Hu’akavameiliku and Tei, attended the event and presented certificates of recognition to outstanding participants in the initiative.
Hu’akavameiliku stated that climate change poses a significant challenge for Pacific Island nations, and Tonga places high importance on ecological conservation and sustainable development. The Tree Planting Initiative is a key measure in Tonga’s push for green transformation. He expressed deep gratitude for China’s crucial support in funding and expertise, which has played a vital role in the successful implementation of the project.
Counsellor Ruan Dewen emphasized that China has always been an active participant in global ecological conservation efforts. He expressed China’s willingness to share technology and experience with Tonga in addressing climate change and developing clean energy to help the country achieve its sustainable development goals.
