On March 3^rd, Ambassador Liu Weimin met with Mr. Taumoefolau, Secretary General of the Tonga Red Cross Society(TRCS).

Ambassador Liu spoke highly of the critical role played by TRCS in epidemic prevention and control, disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief. He noted that the Red Cross Societies of China and Tonga have maintained friendly exchanges and carried out fruitful cooperation. In the face of frequent global disasters and epidemics, China stands ready to continue advancing the spirit of international humanitarianism, supporting Tonga in enhancing its emergency response capabilities and safeguarding public safety and well-being.

Taumoefolau expressed gratitude for China’s strong support to TRCS, particularly the swift assistance provided following the 2022 volcanic eruption. He looked forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China to further strengthen Tonga’s capacity in disaster response and epidemic control.
