On 19th April, 2024, Mr. Ruan Dewen, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, attended the International Chinese Language Day held at Tonga High School. Mr. ‘Isikeli Oko, CEO of Ministry of Education and Training,volunteer Chinese language teachers, and representatives from different schools in Tonga participated in the event.

Mr. Ruan said that China advocates for inter-civilization exchanges to promote harmony, inclusiveness, and respect for differences. With more and more foreign friends learning Chinese, the Chinese language has increasingly become a bond between China and the world. China will work with Tonga to promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people friendship, and add new impetus to China-Tonga relations.

This is the second year Tonga holds the International Chinese Language Day.
