From December 12th to 15th, 2023, H.E. Hao Ping, Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, led a delegation to visit Tonga. The delegation met with Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. ‘Utoikamanu, held talks with the Acting Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga Lord Tu’iha’angana and members of the Legislative Assembly to exchange views on bilateral relations, people-to-people bonds, strengthened exchanges and collaboration between both legislatures, and discussed other issues of common interest.

The delegation also visited the China-aid Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project team and held meetings and discussions with the National University of Tonga and overseas Chinese in Tonga.
